I’ve written a picture book

I’ve written a picture book. It’s illustrated by Johnny Schumann.

It’s one of my favourite ever projects and I think you’re going to like it too.

Johnny and I both have a background in creating animated content so that’s how we approached this book. It’s full of humour, fun wordplay, engaging character designs, and has the look and energy of a modern kids animated series.

The text for CHEESE! was awarded 2nd place in the I AM WRITING PICTURE BOOKS competition last year and received positive feedback from agents and publishers.

But I struggled to find a home for CHEESE! so I’ve decided to self-publish.

The goal is to produce a story and illustrations that are of the same quality as titles from the major publishers. CHEESE! is a passion project that has been created entirely independently of the conventional publishing industry, with DIY ethos and not a celebrity author in sight!

It’s PUNK… but with colourful pictures and cheese.

But it’s also not cheap. Turns out there are all kinds of costs involved in illustrating and publishing a high quality book.

So I’m launching a Kickstarter!

Kickstarter is a crowd funding platform that allows people to financially back a creative project in exchange for rewards (like copies of the book) and the satisfaction of knowing they helped make a dream happen.

The campaign will be launching soon but a pre-launch page is up now.

If this sounds like something you believe in and you want to help, please take a moment to click the below link and register your interest.

You’ll need a Kickstarter account but that is quick, easy and free to do. So don’t let that bit of admin stop you.

I’ll post more updates (including sample artwork) as the campaign gets closer.

There’s some really cool stuff, promise!

Either we hit our funding goal and make the book, or I’ll slowly crumble and go kinda crazy. It’s going to be fun.
